Hi all,

is it possible to change files uk.po to ua.po?

The problem is that uk is assigned to Ukrainian language, but the official language code for this language is UA.

It would be the right thing to do.

If we do that, we need to keep an alias from uk to ua in our Downloadable Plugins / Downloadable Language Packs code since existing G2 installations will still know the locale under the wrong name "uk".
Maybe there's an easier solution:
Say it's a minor core API change, and we'd bump the core API requirement of all plugins at that time, then existing G2 installations wouldn't get any packaged plugins that have the new name for the locale.
3rd party plugin developers would need to remember to bump the core API requirement as well if they release a new package as well.

We need to make sure that we're aware of all the consequences before we do that. Not sure if we can consider the change to be low risk enough to be included in G2.3. It might have to wait.

Can you please file a bug at https://sf.net/projects/gallery/ -> bugs?

Thanks!

Hello Anton,

uk.po is correct.
uk is the language code for ukrainian, UA is the country code for Ukraine.

The languages code is ISO 639-1 as shown here:
http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php

The country code is ISO 3166-1(-alpha2) as shown here:
http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes/iso_3166_code_lists/english_country_names_and_code_elements.htm

Even better. No change required then.
Thanks for looking it up!
/me still doesn't know all codes by heart. :)
