Hi all,

I want to connect a USB-Soundcard under linux.
i have alsa installed.
Do i just need to connect the soundcard to the usb-port or do i have
to activate something?
The soundcard is a cheap plastic stick with a c-media chipset in it.

Thanks for helping.

Greetings,
Simon

Hi Simon,

just plug your soundcard, check if you have got the module snd-usb-audio
loaded in your kernel and you should be okay to use it.

enjoy

Philippe

I think it's just the opposite, first plug it in, then modprobe it. (Disclaimer: i'm no expert.)

Good luck

'ecasound' as such has nothing to do with the soundcard.

Linux audio system should take care of the card; 'ecasound' should be
pointed to the device to be used for playback.

I.e. first make sure your USB soundcard works using 'aplay'/'arecord',
then, when/if it works, use it with 'ecasound'.

Regards,
  Sergei.
