Ubuntu 9.10

Speaking of 9.10, I'm relatively new to Ubuntu (and Linux), as I started
using it daily at work 6 weeks ago.  Is there a "normal" amount of time that
people wait before upgrading?  I'd really like to be using Firefox 3.5
without trying to install it into 9.04.

That depends entirely on how risk-adverse you are.  I've got enough machines
under my purview that I can install a new release on a couple rarely-used
machines to see how it goes before I try and upgrade my workhorses.  I always
wait a week or so for the workhorses anyway, so if there are any egregious
issues the workarounds are already established / easy to look up.

Not sure if you're aware or not, but installing it into 9.04 is fairly
simple.  From the command line, just:

$ sudo apt-get install firefox-3.5 firefox-3.5-branding
firefox-3.5-gnome-support

Would that upgrade my existing firefox 3.0 install or add 3.5 to my system
in addition to 3.0?
