immagino che le personalizzazioni di cui parli siano del tuo utente e
non del sistema, quindi si troveranno tutte nella tua home.
detto questo l'immagine del disco creata da wubi è montabile in una
cartella qualsiasi ed il backup della cartella si può fare tramite un cp
-r.
si tratta un po di vedere come ti trovi più comodo e dal livello che hai
raggiunto di conoscenza di linux.

per ora il mio consiglio è di installare un ubuntu ex novo per non aver
problemi con le partizioni ed il grub.
in seguito all'installazione montare il file di wubi e copiarle nella
home dell'utente che desideri configurare.

lo svantaggio di questo sistema è che devi installare nuovamente il
software non normalmente installato con l'installazione base.

cercando ho trovato questa guida https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide
nella quale è spiegato come fare il mount del file che contiene l'intero
filesystem di wubi (il percorso di /win dipende dal punto di mount della
partizione windows in quel momento quindi varia)

sudo mkdir /media/vdisk
sudo mount -o loop /win/ubuntu/disks/root.disk /media/vdisk

la copia dei file puoi farla con il nautilus, l'importante è portarsi
anche i file nascosti quindi ti conviene copiare tutta la cartella del
tuo utente che sarà montata come segue /media/vdisk/home/ilTuoUtente

"Обезьянка" это файл в формате *Monkey* Audio (*.ape)

Обезьянка - это Monkey Audio - ape то есть. Для нарезки из cue файлов я под Виндой использую cue splitter http://www.medieval.it/sw/cuesplitter_setup.exe

Гм. А нельзя было на ввод, скажем, плееру (да любому подходящему) пустить обезьянку, и сказать вывести в wav? Не проще было бы?

auto spellcheck in KMail 1.11.2 Jaunty (SOLVED)

Hi,

After some investigations I was about to ask for help.
The closest messages on the net were to the opposite effect, being unable to
turn off auto spell checking.
Then it started working for some obscure reason. I decided to report anyway.

1) the spell checker worked in English and French(France) but not with the
plain French item.

2) the auto spell checker didn't work for neither. After right clicking I
could check the related box and this would reflect in the menu under Options
but this menu item was greyed out, I cannot check the box there.

3) I installed aspell-fr, restarted KMail, an now auto spell check works,
although the auto spell checking menu item under Options still remains greyed
out.

Go figure.

Basically, I would like DFEY-SE to have more members, young people. The problems we face are common to youth groups, lack of members, lack of time,

kids or know of any young people interested in technology in the South-East (our meetings are held in London) area that would benefit from joining a
friendly community, or have any ideas as to how we can reach out to young people and get them involved or have any ideas for meetings/opportunities,

I've just tried that in KMail and it performs as expected. i.e. it moves the
dragged text to the position I drop it. However I am using 1.12.3 on kde
4.3.3.

There's already a summarized page[1] refreshed (if I remember correctly) 3
times a day.
I guess it can be interesting having some sort of aggregation of these two
pages, something like "packages that builds on launchpad but not on
${Lucas's method}" and viceversa "packages that doesn't build on launchpad
but does on your page".
Any other sort of heuristics on builds helps both distros, and moreover
they can be sent on harvest[2].

C'est pourtant ce genre de "mièvrerie" qui fait la réussite ou l'échec
d'une entreprise : si le comptable ressemblait au commercial, on
n'irait pas loin !
Les raisons financières ne sont pas négligeables dans la décision de
passer à Linux parce que vu de l'extérieur et en simple utilisateur, on
n'a aucune idée de l'ampleur du changement. On croit simplement qu'on va
avoir "un-truc-qui-fait-la-même-chose-que-w..." sans besoin de payer ou
de pirater. Une fois dans le bain, on s'aperçoit que le "truc" est en
plus qualitativement incomparable et soutenu, porté, boosté par une
grande diversité de personnes :-) sur lesquelles on peut compter.

Freenode is not a part of Ubuntu, although Canonical (the company behind
Ubuntu) is a sponsor.
You should really try to contact Freenode. They have a snail mail address
on their web site so you could send them a letter. I mean on paper, you
know?

(bit)torrent is a network protocol for sharing files.

It is specifically designed to distribute the load from one central server
(typical http or ftp) to several equal (or peer) clients. As soon as a
client has downloaded one part of a file, it will start sharing that part
with other peers. If there are enough peers, they can exchange various
parts of the file and some peers don't even need to contact the original
"seeder" of the file.

Interesting, thank you for your efforts on this. I have already spotted
a package which should have been purged using this list. I was checking
the kernel package and see the following, 32bit build success and 64bit
failure:

linux 2.6.32-7.10 ... OK Failed [UNKNOWN] XXX

I am assuming the tooling has detected an error, but is unable to
pinpoint it? Do you have any hints as to how I might locate the
apparent failure?

The only odd thing I see in the 64bit build log is the following, which
I am not expecting the package to be using?

If you're needing to start over with Wine, (i.e. you tried installing a
program/did some configuring, and now wine won't work right) you can
typically start fresh by simply removing the ".wine" folder in your home
directory, then running winecfg again. you shouldn't need to completely
uninstall wine, unless you were patching it, installing it from source,
etc... But for the sake of completeness

To remove all traces of Wine, installed via package manager (From GUI):
1. System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
2. Search "wine". In the sidebar on the left, click "Status" then
select "Installed" to only show installed packages
3. Right-click on wine package(s), "Mark for Complete Removal"
4. Click Apply.
5. Go to Places > Home Folder
6. View > Show Hidden Files
7. locate the .wine folder, and delete it.
8. Profit.

Same thing from command line:
1. Applications > Accessories > Terminal
2. sudo apt-get purge wine
3. rm -rf ~/.wine

Pas mal de personnes passe a linux pour des raisons financière (....) se
qui peut se traduire par gratuité et souvent dans linux se qui est
gratuit est libre .
Mais aussi tout simplement pour ne pas avoir a pirater billou car tout

Bien sur il y a aussi bien d autre raison de passer a linux mais rien

Qu'on passe à Linux pour des raisons financières, c'est peut-être une des plus mauvaises raisons de le faire mais admettons, pourquoi pas, tant que ça amène quelqu'un du bon côté de la barrière, on va dire, tolérons cette raison là.
Mais qu'on dise juste après qu'on jette son fric dans un trou, désolé, mais l'association des deux, ça tient pas. C'est le cumul des 2 qui me choque.
Après hein, chacun fait ce qu'il veut, chacun son avis, libre à chacun d'engraisser l'Etat puis de se plaindre de sa misère. Et j'arrêterai là puisqu'il paraît que ça pollue la liste. Moi j'ai mon idée de ce qui pollue vraiment.

Thanks for this. I'm curious whether your methodology differs significantly
from the test rebuilds which happen within Launchpad. Does it?

Ich hatte für eine Zeit auch das Problem, die ersten MB wurden schnell
kopiert, danach fiel die Geschwindigkeit bis auf 400 KB/s. Ich habe
damals etwas experimentiert mit versch. Dateisystemen (NTFS, FAT, EXT),
aber das schien nicht das Problem zu sein. Nach eins der Updates ging es
aber wieder (so um die 5MB/s?).

Kmail editor drag drop (move) words in Jaunty

Hi,

In text editors one can reorder words or sentences using D&D.
This doesn't work in KMail 1.11.2: the pointer with the rectangle appears and
I can drop in e.g. Kate, but the insertion bar does not move in KMail editor
so D&D has no effect.
I failed to find anything relevant an the net.

Any tips?

fatto
messo la iso sul disco ma non capisco come fare a montarla
ho provato a farci click col destro e a clickare "apri con monta
archivi" (che però ha l'icona che sembra tanto quella dei file che si
aprono con wine) ma non succede assolutamente nulla

che devo fare per montarla ?

I beg to differ. It has all to do. If the OPs aim is to prevent people
from recovering his/her data on discarded or stolen disks, then
initially storing that data in an encrypted containers achieves that aim
with the security level provided by the strength of the encryption
algorithm chosen. Unless the key is also made available to the attacker,
the data is just as well protected in an encrypted container as if it
were shredded in some other way. It's just random junk. You can go to
the extreme of changing the key to a random value before discarding the
disks if you want.

Now if you are trying to prevent people from accessing data on a running
system with a mounted disk... well... once the encrypted disk is
mounted, for all purposes, it's just another FAT disk... so all FAT
tools apply for recovering data, and shredding is in order. At this
point, since the system is running, and not being disassembled to look
at phantom magnetic data, simple shredding is enough (since when you
disassemble it, you lose the access to unencrypted data).

So again, before saying it's got nothing to do, maybe we try to refine
the OP's scenario and then pinpoint the right answer...

The bug report of Kwan Chan doesn't match my symptoms since I can ear sound from two apps running simultaneously (i.e, smplayer and amarok).

The solution of Ike Garcia didn't work for me.

I will try Go Eller's solution.

I done some tests which revealed that:

Playing smplayer + amarok together or one before the other did not cause the problem.
Playing flash + amarok did not cause the problem too.

I will try to monitor the behavior of the problem in the following days.

[Bug 499364] [NEW] Lockups Intel

Ubuntu 9.04 was rock solid for me.

I recently did a clean install on my desktop of 9.10. All is good except
I get total lockups about once an evening. The mouse is still functional
but not the keyboard (I have enabled <CRTL><ALT><BACKSPACE> but it or an
attempt to go to a command shell does not work).

After a bit of research I figure that the Intel Corporation
82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)
might be causing the problem??

A quick test of Fedora 12 from the live CD also caused a lockup.

I am using 2.6.31-16-generic.

It appears that something in 9.10 must have changed to cause this
problem as the system was totally rock solid before the new install.

Have tried:
Option "NoAccel" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"

but neither improve the situaiton
