Unable to activate TM '09 [1 Attachment]Hi all,
I am trying an experiment and am stuck. I am using a MacBook Core Duo running Leopard. I am running Windows 7 on top of Sun VirtualBox. I can download TM '09, but I cannot activate it. See the attached screen shot. Has anyone done this before? |

Re: Unable to activate TM '09Thom,
Since downloading TM '09, have you received your license code to activate it yet via e-mail? Or are you just trying to download a copy from the net without registering a paid registration and licensing fee? Did you already have a licensed version of a previous copy of TM on the PC? Re: Re: Unable to activate TM '09Our troop has the license for TM '08. I was running TM'08 on an XP
computer & I have the activation license code from that. Do I need to de-activate that copy or something like that? -Thom On Jun 2, 2009, at 1:39 PM, Kenneth wrote: > Thom, > > Since downloading TM '09, have you received your license code to > activate it yet via e-mail? Re: Re: Unable to activate TM '09No de-activation needed.
The error looks like a permissions problem when Troopmaster tries to create the license file in C:\Troopmaster Software\TM4\ You might look and see if the ability to write to there is restricted by the virtual machine. Re: Unable to activate TM '09Okay, my next question then, just by looking at your screenshot, would be did your other license expire and you were doing an "Update" to the newer version before attempting the download?
If so, you may need the new license activation code for the new update. If your previous version had not expired, then it should've just been a standard update. If you're trying to install two different versions, yes, you'll need a new license activation code. Re: Unable to activate TM '09I am using a Mac Book with VMWare Fusion and Windows XP SP2
Originally I installed TroopMaster 08. We are now at TroopMaster 09 because of the patch updates. Don't know if that is an answer. Why didn't you load TM 08 and then go through the update process? |

Re: Re: Unable to activate TM '09TM '08 is not available for download.
I am waiting to hear from our TM person to see if there is a different license key & expiration date. -Thom On Jun 3, 2009, at 4:52 AM, kthoman2005 wrote: > > > I am using a Mac Book with VMWare Fusion and Windows XP SP2 > > Originally I installed TroopMaster 08. Re: Unable to activate TM '09Okay, so that answered my other question, that you tried to download the newer version and install it without a new license key.
Also that you're not the units TM primary license holder of the software. Meaning, you can't just install a newer version unless there's a current non-expired version licensed that can be updated automatically. This would probably explain the error message you'd received. Chances are, you'll probably wind up waiting until the license is renewed, updated to newer version if it expired, and ready to be copied onto other user's PC's once it's set up on the primary user's machine with the new license key code. Re: Re: Unable to activate TM '09How very odd. I tried all sorts of stuff & finally resorted to the old
M$ standby, reload. Not the OS but Troopmaster. It loaded & activated perfectly and now I am updating the training data for the troop. I wish I knew why it was working now and not before. YiS, Thom Holland T626 MacBook Sun Virtual Box Windows 7 Troopmaster '09 |

Re: Re: Unable to activate TM '09Thom,
A Corrupt file, or a goofed up dll or anything that points to files like indexes will do it every time. No rhyme or reason.
