Unable to import CDDB info with latest SVNHello,
Migrating from KDE 3.5 on mandriva 2009.0 to KDE 4.2 on mandriva 2009.1, I'm encountering problems with tellico: First I must say I rapidly upgraded the version to the SVN version (and pushed it to cooker as well at the same time, as the native version is too buggy) Then with th latest SVN version I have the follwing issues: 1/ I'm unable to import a CD content by reading it, and making a cddb query. K3B gt's the info correctly, but not tellico for the same CD. 2/ No i18n seems to be available (typically for me no french msgs). Thanks in advance to tell me if those are known problems or not, and if/how to fix them. All the i18n messages moved, since Tellico is in KDE svn now. I'm still not sure how to build packages which include both doc and i18n. I need to ask for help from the extragear folks. I'll probably check into how amarok or digikam is handling it...maybe that's why you don't have fr? However, now that it's working, I have another request ;-) It seems that for new CD imported, the table of tracks is limited to 6. First the others are not imported, and then when you add them manually, tellico strip them out of the XML file (even if It didn't removed my former tracks in my former 1500 CDs !!) > > 2/ No i18n seems to be available (typically for me no french msgs). > > All the i18n messages moved, since Tellico is in KDE svn now. Let me know if you think I can help for this. For the moment I don't see them in my tellico tar file. I'm not seeing that. Is there anything weird or special about the tracks you're trying to add? > Probably. I haven't made any tar files yet and I don't do the mandriva packages, so I can't help you there. I'm not sure how I'm going to build the tar packages for the release yet, it's part of being in extragear that I haven't started working on. I'm a committer for Mandriva, so that's ok with the rpm ;-) But I can't provide in th package, something which is not upstream that easily. And currently the tar I make from your SVN doesn't contain any message translated. What If you just put them in a mo directory for the moment ? I could then provide them in the package (same for other distro/pkg format). Now I don't know the process you need to follow, so I may make a stupid request, bare with me. Are you compiling with debug support, are there any messages in stdout? Humm. Bad for me ;-) Just to clarify, this problem is also true for already entered CD. The panel showing the tracks is limited to the first 6. The others (which are in the XML file) are not shown. > Are you compiling with debug support, No by default I do not. But of course, it's easy to add. > are there any messages in stdout? Nothing at all linked to the import. THe messages I got are: tellico(21230): Attempt to use QAction "edit_undo" with KXMLGUIFactory! tellico(21230): Attempt to use QAction "edit_redo" with KXMLGUIFactory! QPainter::end: Painter ended with 2 saved states QPainter::end: Painter ended with 2 saved states QPainter::end: Painter ended with 2 saved states but are at the start of the application. I've not retried with last svn version, as the log doesn't seem to indicate it could make any difference. Could it be linked to a bug in one of the libraries provided on my Mandriva distro, which is for sure different from your distro ? (I just retry removing nearly anything related to KDE 3.5 - sniff, was working so well :-( - to favour KDE 4.2 - which still isn't finished IMHO - without change, but it may be something else) Or could it be a missing module (I realized looking at the bug report feature, that the package kdepasswd wasn't installed on my system !) Is there any debug feature I could activate to give you more interesting details, as I realize that I'm not helping here :-( Also minor point: when importing a new CD, before it was first in the list (with an empty composer). Now the "Empty" entry is placed in the middle of the list, making it more long to scroll to find it again and modify it. Thanls for taking time to look at it Robby ! Which view template are you using? > Could it be linked to a bug in one of the libraries provided on my > Mandriva distro, which is for sure different from your distro ? Possibly, I guess. Tellico's XML is converted to HTML using the XSL template and the libxslt1 library. libxslt1 1.1.23 had a bad bug... http://periapsis.org/archives/2008/08/01/opensuse_110_includes_a_broken_libxslt.html > Or could it be a missing module (I realized looking at the bug report > feature, that the package kdepasswd wasn't installed on my system !) I can't think of anything else to debug really. If you export to XML, and you see all the tracks listed there, you could test the xsl conversion outside of Tellico. xsltproc /path/to/the/Fancy.xsl output.xml > output.html Then look at output.html to see if allt he tracks are listed. > Also minor point: when importing a new CD, before it was first in the > list (with an empty composer). So you may also be interested by another difference between that version and the KDE 3.5 version: When a new item was entered in the DB, it remained in bold until you saved it. Now it's just the same as the other items, again making it more difficult to see it in the list. Anyway, many thanks for that tool which has become just mandatory on my Linux platforms today ! I then edited the Entry (CTRL+E), used the second tab (Meta-Info) to create a table of 8 lines (one letter, and one number as value). They were saved correctly in the file (as you can see in the attached .tc file). However, when you come back in the edit entry window, and go again to Meta Info, then only 6 lines are shown on the screen (even if the 8 lines are indeed in the file). Hope it will allow you to reproduce my issue, or to give me ideas on where to look at to solve it. Hey, if you can see it, I'm pretty sure you'll find a way to solve it ;-) > I appreciate your persistence and help! :) As I said, tellico is really core to my Linux desktop usage today: 25084357 -rw-r--r-- 1 bruno users 157600 2009-06-28 12:15 BD.tc 25084549 -rw-r--r-- 1 bruno users 606905 2009-06-28 01:01 Disques.tc (only a third done) 25084441 -rw-r--r-- 1 bruno users 248459 2009-06-28 12:45 DVD.tc 25084347 -rw-r--r-- 1 bruno users 14766 2009-06-28 12:08 Livres.tc (only a few done) As I'm at it, I also found another small problem: when you edit a numeric entry (# of pages in comics/books, e.g.) the first number you type is left on the right, and all the other are normaly entered. So if I type 1963 I get 9631. Not a bir issue, if you take care of it when you make your entry :-) Thanks again for all your work on tellico.
