Update to tinymce?Hi guys, I believe the version of tinymce that comes with "core" is a little out of date, is there a plugin or plan in the works to upgrade to the latest version? If not, do you believe it will be a big task to do the integration and what are you thoughts on simply updating core as opposed to creating a plugin? The real time sink with the tinyMCE upgrade is the need to write a new tinyMCE plugin for integrating FarCry content (ie. the FarCry button). The latest version of tinyMCE is a pretty much a rewrite and introduces a new plugin architecture. I expect its not likely to be all that difficult, it's just a block of time we don't have at the moment. Of course if there was a sponsor out there, or someone wanted to contribute a solution we'd be happy to consider it for core. If you wanted to attempt an update, your best bet would be to build a plugin, and get it to completely replace the richtext.cfc formtool. Once you have that working we can look to integrate the solution directly into core within an appropriate milestone. Re: Update to tinymce?I am wondering in case of sponsoring, how does it work, can we be a little more transparent about prices etc? Or email about this? If that's more in the open i can see what i could share, and we all know how many others we could motivate so we all could contribute a part. Not only for this situation but it might open up possibilities for other future features that we would love to see integrated that are not on the 'open source path' or could be faster implemented if funded for. Is this something we could setup in the bug tracker as feature improvement and put all the info out there, price, time, requests, people joining in, is that an idea? Re: Update to tinymce? It is? You know, if 100 or maybe just 10 of the 674 users here would agree... Anyone else enthusiastic about this? Our policy on sponsorship of code is outlined here: http://www.daemon.com.au/services/farcry-core-changes We've also been looking at introducing some sort of bounty program, eg. defining a feature, setting up a fund that people can contribute to, and building the feature once the nominated bounty is met. It would be interesting to know how keen community members would be to participate in such a scheme. At this time nearly all development is sponsored directly by Daemon and some of its larger clients. -- geoff http://www.daemon.com.au/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message cos you are subscribed to "farcry-dev" Google group.
