Is there an upgrade path from 4D 2.1.1 (Mac) to a version that runs on OS
X? I've just moved to OS 10.5 and can no longer run my vintage 4D database
(originally written in 4D 1.0 but running fine on 4D 2.1.1 when used in OS 9).

Hi Tom,

Some data points that may help:

-The most recent version of 4D that still supported OS9 was 2003.
-The first version to actually be certified for OS9 was 6.0.6.
-The first version to support OSX was 6.8.

Kind regards,

Josh Fletcher

Thanks, Josh, for product information. The version 2.1 and 2.1.1 floppies I
have are vintage 1990, but worked without any difficulty in Classic 9.x
mode on PowerPC Imac G5 that otherwise ran   OS10.4.x until logic board died.

For Josh, or anyone on the 4D Basics email list:

There are 4D Tech Notes on upgrade options of v. 2.x and 3.x 4D. It looks
like an intermediate version may be needed, e.g., 6.x. Does 4D, Inc. make 6.x
downloads available, or still sell the version? Alternatively, has anyone
successfully transferred a 2.x database to 4D 2003 or 4D 2004? My attmept at
latter caused downloaded demo version to crash.
