Upgrade of CE installation to 4.1Hello everybody, in the release notes for Magnolia 4.1 I noticed the following paragraph in the upgrade instructions: | Update the nodetypes definitions: execute the updatenodetypes | or updatenodetypes.bat script from the add-ons/magnolia-tools/bin | folder of Magnolia Enterprise Edition application server bundle. | On a typical setup, you'll only need to pass it the -webapp argument, | like for example: | | ./updatenodetypes -webapp /Applications/Magnolia/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/webapps/magnoliaAuthor/ | | Do this for all your instances. (that's on http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/releases/4-1.html) Only the Enterprise Edition is mentioned here, and indeed in the Community Edition download, there is no such script. My question: how do I upgrade a Magnolia CE installation? Can I just skip this step, or do I need to do something else? Thanks for your help! Re: Upgrade of CE installation to 4.1I just cloned a 4.0 CE author instance with data and tried the normal upgrade. At first sight, it seems to work fine. However, I don't have a good feeling about this. "Notetype definitions" sound repository related and not EE specific. Does anybody know what the script is supposed to do? Re: Upgrade of CE installation to 4.1Hello everybody, my bad feeling was justified - I just tried to install STK 1.1.2 on this instance and the installation failed, while it works fine on a fresh 4.1.1 instance. I noticed that the file custom_nodetypes.xml is different between those two instances, so I just tried to copy the 4.1.1 custom_nodetypes.xml to the upgraded instance and this time, the STK installation was possible. However, I first had to roll back to the situation before the failed STK installation attempt (probably because STK installation also modifies the custom_nodetypes.xml). Again, everything seems to work fine now. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that's all, or if there is still something else to do for the upgrade. Best regards, Oliver. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Oliver Knorr" <olk@...> To: "Magnolia User-List" <user-list@...> Sent: Tuesday, November 03, 2009 9:42 PM Subject: Re: [magnolia-user] Upgrade of CE installation to 4.1 > > I just cloned a 4.0 CE author instance with data and tried > the normal upgrade.
