Upgrading to Hercules 3.06 on Windows XP

Hi all

The last time I installed Hercules 3.06 I lost my IP connectivity - not sure why but I was no longer able to connect to my Hercules Guests.

So - I have just re-installed Hercules 3.05 as per the Brian Westerman instructions and I can now communicate via IP with my zDebian guest again - yahoo....

So my next exercise was to bring up the new Fedora11 which is distributed as a Hercules disk image - I have already got this up and running under a Fedora Hercules so I wanted to try and get it going under a Windows Hercules - now that my 3.05 system is behaving I fired it up - alas I have a problem - when I IPL Fedora's 122 disk I get this error

HHCCP007I CPU0000 architecture mode set to z/Arch
Error starting thread in diagnose 0x308: Invalid argument

When I had this error on my Fedora Hercules I upgraded to 3.06 and all was rosy.

So my dilemma is - do I upgrade my Windows Hercules to 3.06 and end up down the some rabbit hole I went into previously.

It would be comforting if I could have a backout strategy - so if someone can tell me if my plan will work.

Is it just as simple as making a copy of my "Hercules" directory which is currently c:\hercules\ and installing 3.06 over the top of 3.05 - will my backout be as simple as just restoring the "hercules" directory or does other stuff get sqirrelled away in other places????

If only it was simpler  ;)

Cheers and thanks in advance for any offerings
