Urgent help requiredHello to all of you,
I need urgent help from you guys. I have a polygon feature shape file. Now I want to break one of those polygons into two polygons and the intersecting boundary between these two new polygons can be seen from a jpg file. I don't know how to draw that line using jpg as background and subsequnetly how to convert new drawn line into polygon feature. I shall be very thankful if someone can teach me stepwise procedure to how to do it in Arc Map. Few years back, I did this thing in ArcInfo workstation, but I forget that now. If someone can teach me these steps for ArcInfo that can equally help me. Re: Urgent help required*Dear Bhupinder,*
** *Unlike me who works extensively in Telecom and hence associated with RF, your case cane be very difficult.* ** *In Lab, you can actually implement this by drawing a polygon by associating Resources, Cubicles in a polygon formation.* ** *Then apply Tension, Stress at demarcation co-ordinates to split the polygon record to 2 polygon records with one JPG Layer as Back Ground.* ** *Is it now making sense..or do you think that you need more help on the same.......* ** ** Thanks and regards Rohan Sarker Tel:+919903051236 Res:+913324180985 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ On 6/5/08, Bhupinder Singh <bhupi80singh@...> wrote: > > Hello to all of you, > I need urgent help from you guys. Re: Urgent help requiredI may be wrong, but from your message, it appears that you are attempting to cut a polygon and then export it as a jpg to be viewed in another program. If this is correct, you need to start editing in the the editor tool bar, select your polygon and then from options select cut. Draw a line from the outside of the polygon through your polygon and the double click on the outside again. This will cut your polygon and give you two seperate areas that can then be color coded and your outline will display the two different polygons. Save your edits, and then go to the layout view and select export map and select JPG as the format. Hope this helps. Re: Urgent help requiredYes, I think you missed part. I think he needs to import the JPG as a
layer, then use your technique to follow some feature on the JPG to cut his polygon. Otherwise, it sounds a lot like an exercise in Rich Greene's Geog 459.
