Services Virtual Organization (HSVO) project, funded under Canarie's Network-Enabled Platforms (NEP) program. The goal of the HSVO project is to create a sustainable research platform for experimental development of shared ICT-based health services, including supporting patient treatment planning and team and individual preparedness in the operating room, emergency room, general practice clinics, and patients' bedsides. This includes a collection of functioning services supporting: patient treatment planning; team and individual preparedness in the operating room, emergency room, general practice clinics, and patients' bedsides. Existing resources include a medical mannequin, various anatomical and physiological datasets in association with viewer software, a virtual patient simulator, and a dense camera array for dynamic control while viewing both live and on-demand surgical procedures. Duties The usability specialist will be primarily responsible for designing and conducting usability evaluation and user experience tests related to our prototype systems being deployed for distributed medical education. Frequent interaction with local and remote colleagues will be expected, in particular with another UI professional, also working at McGill. Some travel will be required, in particular for participation in our project workshop in the summer. The position is available immediately and runs through the end of August 2010. Requirements The successful candidate must have significant background in HCI with demonstrated experience in usability testing. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work with both technical and non-technical team members is imperative.
