Using LCDproc with keypad? Example code?

I have been wanting to use some one line LCD displays with keypads that emulate Matrix Orbital units.  I see that LCDproc has support for displays and it looks like keypads too.  But I haven't found any example code using the keypad.  Anyone using LCDproc keypad for input to mh?  I am wanting to do some simple command selections and am not sure where to start.
