Using Programatic Menus + Dialog vs Splash Screen

Hi Folks

What do people think about the merits + pitfalls of using  
programmatically assigned menu items (plus a 'form' as a splash screen  
to capture the menu choices) as opposed to using the menu editor.

I have a need in this project to do this and haven't done things this  
way since about 1990. Are there any long term issues ? (e.g. windowing  
problems, reliability in capturing the 'On Menu Selected Event', un-
supported features etc ?

If anyone has any strong opinions on this / gotchas, I'd appreciate  
hearing them !
