Using parts from Trails

Hi list.

Is it possible and reasonable to reduce the full stack of Trails, e.g.
for creating a web interface to an existing service. For an examples
sake, let's assume I wanted to code yet another web based subversion
repository viewer.

Would Trails still be a good choice, or should I rather use Trails'
components (i.e. Tapestry and Spring) directly?
