I come to SLC a couple times a month and like to play around on the dial seeing how we can improve our little AM station in South Tahoe, Well I was happy when I was given a HD ZOOM radio from a vendor and was really happy when I drove to The Bay area there HD2 channels really have a variety, Classic Alternative and on The Jack station there HD2 channel is Jack-Dance (really cool) and so on well when I came to Salt Lake thinking that 99.5 HD2 was classic altenative i found it to be a SOFT ROCK station so I thought maybe Clear Channel put the Classic Alt on 106.5 HD2 welllll no it's also a SOFT ROCK format so i tried 105.7's HD2 channel well it's a River Variety Channel and 90% Soft Rock Well ok then I remembered 94.1 was suppose to be an all 80's HD2 channel Nope! It's a Real Oldies Channel sounding like 1060 am...What a waste if you plan on buying a HD Radio for the side bands in Utah right now it's a waste unless ypu really like SOFT ROCK??? But I will admitI like the sound of the AM HD Radio stations makes them much cleaner and clear FM Sounding to me much better then the old AM Stereo which I had in many cars way back then.....

No Peggy, No Dain---- Why not reunite the two on KOSY and make a hard run at FM100. I think that KOSY's time has come to make or break as far as competing with FM100. They'll never get closer than they are if they don't make a move.

Thoughts?

On the other front, it has to be a relief for Simmons. I think they saw the potential, but I would find it hard to believe if they were turning a profit. A close friend who works their estimated that Simmons had already lost over $500K on the Oasis. . .

Lot of changes this year in radio! Most recently, Peggy Igems has been let go from the Eagle for "budgetary reasons"... seems Simmons has had a lot of budget problems the last year.

Where will she land? How about a new morning show with Peggy and Mister?

KOSY went after the Stubbs and Peggy duo soon after their new PD started, but the two were contractually unable to leave Simmons. Interesting Igems should be released not soon after, Just months after Eagle PD Cody Alan took over....

Bottom line... too many country stations that sound exactly the same anyway.

Where do you think Igems will land?

Hmm. Very interesting. I don't know how much equity Millcreek has. If they do - they could sell off KOAY, and maybe it'd be enough to bring them into the clear for a while.

I wonder on Simmons' end if this is a sigh of relief or not. It could be that KOAY was turning a profit, which is sort of a bummer for the folks over on 7th East. But since it wasn't showing up (at least 12+) it may have been a nice way to give up on the format.

How long do y'all think it'll be dead (no signal)? Until the next owner? It's too bad they can't hook up an iPod with some odd format (dance, polka, free-form jazz). But I'm sure that's not gonna happen since there's ASCAP and BMI stuff.

Not to ecco the other board, but what sprung the birth of this board has begun to be brought to a reality. 97.5 The Oasis went off air at midnight last night.

From www.975oasis.com "Simmons Media regrets that our lease with the company that owns KOAY, Millcreek Broadcasting who is in bankruptcy, was terminated by a court on their behalf. Thanks for your previous support and listening to 97.5 The Oasis."

So, the courts are determining, along with lenders, where Milcreek's properties will go. Mine was not an attempt to bash on Milcreek (for which threads were locked), solely to inform.

What's with all of the Citadel stations websites? They are horrible! They are going for a "Clear Channel" form type site, but whomever they got to design them really is horrible. They are disjointed, full of banner ads, and lack content. Exhibit A: The End @ www.1019theend.com. Exhibit B: KBER at www.kber.com. Exhibit C: B98.7 @ www.b987.com. My eye just doesn't know where to look. On the other hand, the Bull's is much better. Why the difference? Different Webmasters?

Milcreeks websites are far superior, though at times un-profesional. I dislike Clear Channels, as they are all the same! Boring. They don't give any personality to the website that reflects the format/market. Simmons does a good job as well. Bonneville's are decent, though cluttered as well. The arrow's looks as if it is a number of continuous banner ads and your eye doesn't know where they want you to look.

Best website: KSL.com

Best Music website: X96.com

Worst: The above mentioned

Your thoughts?
