Utility of "PLACEHOLDER, do not translate"

  Hi,
  I'm wondering if the string "PLACEHOLDER, do not translate", which
(IIRC) was included for use in the experimental gtkmm interface is
still useful.
  According to the inkscpa.pot file it's used in:

  Do not get me wrong, this is merely an "ego thing". If I can't
translate this string, the translation will never be 100% ;-)

Copying the whole msgid string to msgstr is not really translating it, isn't it? :)
Many translators (including me and my "ego"...) did it and I don't notice any side effect.

  You're right, I was just asking in case the msgstr had to be empty
for some reason. If it's no problem, I'll do the same.
