I have to admit, they have very good humour about this

http://flygabenewell.blogspot.com/
http://kotaku.com/5356926/gabe-newell-boycotting-l4d-modders-campaign-[update]

But here's a random thought, if the joke does end up coming true what would be the
possibility on doing a little raisin' and bringing Gabe and Erik a leg further for a
talk?

Thoughts Anyone?

Jon

Yeah saw that, they do have a very good sense of humour.

Bringing them over to Perth would be interesting... Are you talking about for GO3, or something else? Probably a bit short notice for GO3 now.

Nah, let's underwhelm them at an IGDA or "Let's Make Games" night ;)

Beer + Games  = yes

Plus, that way it'd actually be developers meeting and hearing from them. More casual, more intimate, etc etc... A social event rather than a fan-gasm event (though I expect that will happen anyway, hahaha)

I would put it forward as a IGDA event.  It looks like they're getting  the money
together aswell (bit of a no brainer).  However timing wise I would be expecting
next year away from certain release dates ;)

Guess Gabe won't be coming now....

Left 4 Dead 2 refused classification in Australia

Between protecting me from zombie fuelled violence, and keeping the crayons out of the hands of school kids, I'm feeling really safe and secure now, thanks to our various governments. Yay!

I'm feeling a little afraid of the people whose violent urges haven't been worked through in a safe (virtual) environment.

Maybe Gabe SHOULD come, just so he can tell them that if they let his game in, they will be bathed, and then there will be cake.

So if left 4 dead 2 is banned... does that mean we can't even buy it from steam? or will local stores just not be allowed to stock it?

My (albeit somewhat limited) experience with this is that if it hasn't got classification the 'buy' button doesn't show up in Steam (providing your location is set to Australia). The same thing tends to happen if a publisher releases their game via Steam but don't yet want to sell it to your region/country. From memory, Activision did this with Call of Duty 4 - making me wait a few days until the local release.

Cheers,
Lance

Between protecting me from zombie fuelled violence, and keeping the crayons out of the hands of school kids, I'm feeling really safe and secure now, thanks to our various governments. Yay!
