Re: flame reply, was Re: Verizon VX8360 File Access Blockedremain silent or claim the last word. Or at
least say something we don't all already know. As I said before, you
should read my message again and maybe try doing it with more care.
you haven't said one single thing I didn't already
know.
My message did manage to get at least some
discussion going about the v3m, as well as at least one guy who might have
actually looked at a few lines of code. Why don't you try that? The
code I referred to is not at all specific to the v3m. It affects
everything with SMS.
What's your opinion on that code?

Access Blocked I did not say you used the word 'stupid'. I said that your words seem worthless (therefore, seem stupid to me). But, if it makes you feel better to call Bitpim worthless, go ahead. Bitpim is free software. And, it works for some people and not for others (partly because Verizon purposely breaks it for some phones). Maybe your phone is one of those that it's been broken or rendered mostly ineffective for. I don't know, because I don't own that phone. I'm a developer myself, but not a developer of Bitpim. But, I was just 'speaking in behalf' of developers, because it appears to me that you are, directly or indirectly, saying very negative things about a FREE product, and flaming the developers of Bitpim, for issues that, in my view, are NOT the fault of the developers at all. [Don't expect me to go thru any postings you made before I came onto the list. All I saw was that single posting, and I was responding ONLY to that.] If the product proves to be worthless to you, so be it. But, all your ranting and flaming are (probably) not going to bring you anything other than silence from the developers. Maybe, like them, I should have remained silent (if they are listening). And, henceforth, I will now remain silent on this topic. On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 9:26 PM, Jim Turtora <jturtora@...>

Re: flame reply, was Re: Verizon VX8360 File Access BlockedHmmm! Not a developer, but I am a bitpim user, and it works great
for me. I do know that some phone services "break" bitpim, since it gives the user a way to move stuff off the phone without paying the phone services; and I do know of people who have been bitten by that. However, as David Cook wrote, it is a free service that I personally find quite valuable, and I admire and respect the people who donate their time to furnish it. Flame me if you wish, I am an attorney, and I always consider the source ;>). Occasionally someone actually has a point, and then I feel the burn like anyone, but I don't see that happening here. Re: Verizon VX8360 File Access Blocked (also VX10000 )Wow! Great info, thanks, Steve!
I will be upgrading soon, and I will watch for the things you note (though I don't use Verizon, and don't intend to). Believe it or not, I am using a 10 year old LG (believe that's right - pretty sure it is 10-12 years old!). The main reason I still use it is that it "just works" and always has. I have dropped it, immersed it in water, etc., etc., and it just keeps right on working. Lately, one charger stopped working, but the other one is fine. Tiny, but very reliable. Doesn't have Bluetooth, but other than that, it's got it all! I suspect I will hold out for another LG. Until they let me down, I don't intend to let them down. Re: Verizon VX8360 File Access BlockedWere you ever able to get it working?
I recently got a verizon vx8360 and was able to connect to bitpim by uploading the latest LG USB driver from the lg site(google "lg outlook sync") and manually setting bitpim to use the vx8560(chocolate3) connector. I picked "data" mode when I plugged to phone into the usb cable and was able to transfer sms, calendar, contacts, etc. with no problems. |

Re: Verizon VX8360 File Access BlockedI have a Bluetooth Dongle and a program called Bluesoleil It won't copy SMS but it will copy Photos, Videos, MIDI and MP3 Audio files but I can't assign the MIDIs or MP3s as Ringtones. The Dongle and Program cost me 4.29, it's not the greatest program but it cost less then what you would pay for just the Dongle at a retail store and it does what I want (Mostly).
Also if you get a Micro SD card you can set the phone to save pictures to the memory card and then use a card reader to transfer the photos to you PC
