Vintage IBM ManualsI was given two boxes of vintage IBM manuals to donate to our local library book sale.
I can't see that anyone from the library would have much use for them. However, perhaps there is some interest on this list. Just going from memory, there are System Logic Library manuals for MVT, TSO Logic, Principles of Operation for 370, and many others. I can post a complete list if there is interest. Perhaps I should cross post to another list, where people treasure and covet vintage IBM things? If you know of such a place, you can let me know. |

Re: Vintage IBM ManualsMost probably yes! The following sites are current repositories for vintage manuals. I'm sure you will hear from others soon! http://softlib.org/ <http://softlib.org/> http://www.bitsavers.org/ <http://www.bitsavers.org/> Scott --- In H390-MVS@..., "bstark_15301" <bstark@...> wrote: > > I was given two boxes of vintage IBM manuals to donate to our local library book sale. I have yet to see them posted I have access to a sheet-feed scanner, and I have scanned and sent some manuals to bitsavers. The OP didn't say where s/he was, but postage can add up quickly if it's far away. I'm in Toronto. I agree that it would be unfortunate to distribute the manuals without regard to scanning ability and willingness to do so and upload them. I am able and willing to do a reasonable number of them. I have no easy way to deal with perfect bound books, or any others where the sheets cannot easily be separated. The complete list would be great to see. Tony H. |

Old logic manuals had a glue binder that would come off. If these manuals are the same, your sheet feeder should be able to handle them? Any that you can't handle, someone may volunteer? |

Most are pretty square and would feed through a scanner. The whole pile is 18 inches (0.5 meters) high and weighs 38 pounds (17 KG). It will mail around the US pretty cheaply, as it is eligible for "media mail". Since there is some interest, preference would go to someone who wants the entire collection and is willing to scan them into bitsavers. But I could split it up into a couple of shipments. I have a wife, and a vintage IBM collection, and can only keep one of the two.
