Visual Studio 2005 Solution Generation

Does NMaven 0.16 have the ability to generate VS solution files?  Or is this still in the works?  I know version 0.14 can do this, but following the instructions for doing so with v0.16 gives a build error.

By the way, is there a preferred version of NMaven to use?  I would guess that version 0.14 would be the most stable and the best to use, but I haven't been able to get it to build.  The only version I've been able to build to 0.16.

Thanks,

Dusty Burwell

0.14 is the most feature complete and there are a number of patches out for
0.14 (thanks for those who submitted them, i'll review this
week). 0.16-snapshot doesn't have any of the VS features or generation of
solution files, so we still need to get that working. If you don't need VS
support, preferred version is 0.15+.

Hi Dusty,

The NMaven team needs to discuss what will be included in the 0.16 release,
I am not sure about VS solution file generation.  Shane, do you know about
this one?

As for the preferred version, I would say 0.15-incubating is preferred as it
includes the refactored nmaven core.  It has far less features than 0.14, so
you might want to see if it meets your needs.
http://incubator.apache.org/nmaven/0.15/index.html.  The goal of
0.15-incubating was to release the reworked nmaven core with minimal
functionality.

Evan,

Thanks for the quick reply.  Would one find version 0.15-incubating under the 'maven-dotnet-parent-0.15-incubating' tag in the SVN repository, then?

Dusty, you can pull nmaven 0.15-incubating artifacts from
http://people.apache.org/repo/m2-incubating-repository/

Evan,

I hate to be a bother, but would you happen to know where I could find the nmaven 0.14 artifacts as well?

I've had zero luck in building them from source.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not a bother at all, Dusty.

From my recollection, 0.14 was never officially released.  This means you
will need to to build the artifacts yourself, and I am not sure if there is
a tag or branch that corresponds to 0.14 as it was never officially
released.

My advise would be to work with the latest (0.15-incubating/0.16 trunk).
Let us know what features you are waiting for (such as VS solution file
generation), and we'll see if we can get them into 0.16's release.

It wasn't officially released here, but we (Exist) did package an
0.14-based NMaven with Maestro 1.5.1.  Probably the easiest thing to
do would be to grab the zip file from [1] and take the contents of the
'releases' repository which has all of those artifacts (among other
things.)  There is also a PDF in the documentation directory that
explains how to use it.

Or I'm sure we can help you get the 0.14 build working if you'd rather do that.

Evan, Wendy,

I'd love to use one of the latest version (0.15-incubating or 0.16), but VS file generation is pretty important to me in my current situation.  Perhaps, if there were a standalone .exe I could use until that functionality got added back into trunk, that would work.  Does anyone know of such a tool?  Or...how much work would it take to get the file generation functionality in trunk?

Dusty,

You can try pulling those artifacts  as Wendy had suggested.

then run the JavaBinding plugin: `mvn
NMaven.Plugins:NMaven.Plugin.Solution.JavaBinding:Solution`
