Vote for XSPF support in Songbird (again)Hello!
Why vote? // Reason counter in curly brackets, e.g. {n} Songbird has reached 1.0.0 a few days ago but can still neither read nor write XSPF files {1}. Currently it seems Songbird can import many playlist formats but export zero. The latter also means that whatever Songbird can export first will be used by many simply because of lack of options {2}. The 5 votes on a past XSPF request bug (#422) are more or less invisible as it has been closed as a duplicate of bug 5194 {3}. You can still vote on that one, though {4}. To sum up: // (4 reasons counted my way...) There's no better time to remind the Songbird nest of XSPF than right now. (Might sound familiar...) Please vote on these two bugs if you care: Bug 158 – Save playlist as .xspf --> http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?id=158 Bug 5194 – Implement XSPF reader extension as devcomm sample code --> http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5194 Any other kind of friendly noise is wanted, too. If you have creativity - use it ;-) Have a nice day, Sebastian _______________________________________________ Playlist mailing list Playlist@... http://lists.musicbrainz.org/mailman/listinfo/playlist |

Re: Vote for XSPF support in Songbird (again)I think that business leads at Songbird must have explicitly said that
XSPF in particular and playlists in general don't matter. And realize that Songbird is coming from Winampers, who don't see what the problem is with M3U. Re: Vote for XSPF support in Songbird (again)Lucas + XSPFers,
Make no mistake, 'birders <3 XSPF. Lack of cycles on XSPF are simply a result of Songbird users rarely mentioning XSPF while they are asking for a lot of other features. See http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird Now, if a XSPF champion would like to work on 'bird support, please hop in IRC, check the dev site and join the dev mailing list. irc://irc.mozilla.org/#songbird http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Developer Thx, r0b On Dec 11, 2008, at 12:09 PM, Lucas Gonze wrote: > I think that business leads at Songbird must have explicitly said that > XSPF in particular and playlists in general don't matter. > > And realize that Songbird is coming from Winampers, who don't see what > the problem is with M3U. > > Sebastian Pipping wrote: >> Hello! >> >> >> Why vote? // Reason counter in curly brackets, e.g. {n} >> >> >> Songbird has reached 1.0.0 a few days ago but can still neither >> read nor write XSPF files {1}. Re: Vote for XSPF support in Songbird (again)Hey man. Nice to see you here.
Does it make sense to talk about integrating the plugin -- http://github.com/atduskgreg/spiffy-bird/tree/master -- as an off-the-shelf part of songbird? See http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird I looked through a few of them. These three all ask for XSPF im- and/or export indirectly: + How to backup/import Database? http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/how_to_backup_import_database + Create standard playlist files. http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/create_standard_playlist_files + How do you save playlists? http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/how_do_you_save_playlists > Now, if a XSPF champion would like to work on 'bird support, please > hop in IRC, check the dev site and join the dev mailing list. > > irc://irc.mozilla.org/#songbird > http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Developer My time is currently very limited but I sure want to know where and how an implementation would have to hook in. At what days and time are my chances highest to find an expert on that topic live on IRC? What nicks should I look out for?
