W3C Spec Test in Opera 9.2 WebBrowserhttp://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/Test/CSS2.1/current/t1205-c565-list-pos-00-b.htm
I tried to test this URL in Opera 9.2 WebBrowser. But I saw that the two navy boxed were different on windows xp in my computer. Why were they differenet? I heard that Opera Web browser passed the all spec test. I think that Opera WebBrowser uses a special font. Is it right? If it is right, what a font does Opera 9.2 WebBrowser use? |

That's impossible. Even if Opera had perfect support for CSS2.1, there are many tests in the test suite that are wrong. > I think that Opera WebBrowser uses a special font. > > Is it right? If it is right, what a font does Opera 9.2 WebBrowser use? It's not a font issue. If you download the test and tweak it so that all the colors are white and none are navy, you will see that the reason Opera fails this test is that its spacing between the period in the list marker and the beginning of the text content is different from the width of a space. That said, I don't see any statement in CSS2.1 that backs up this test, so it is invalid and should be removed. Thanks for bringing it up. ~fantasai |

Because there is no sentence in the spec, that I can see, that would justify the assertion the test is making. > Is it a w3c's policy? To have a correct test suite rather than an incorrect one? I should hope so. ~fantasai |

Thanks for bringing it up. This test http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/Test/CSS2.1/20061011/t1205-c565-list-pos-00-b.htm was taken from the CSS1 test suite. The original test is here: http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/Test/CSS1/20070302/sec565.htm The original test is valid afaict: it is testing list-style-position. However the CSS2.1 version is invalid and should be removed. I've written a pair of tests to replace it, based on the original CSS1 test. Anyone willing to review them so I can add them to the test suite? ~fantasai <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>CSS 2.1 Test Suite: list-style-position</title> <link rel="author" title="CSS1 Test Suite Contributors" href="http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/Test/CSS1/current/tsack.html"/> <link rel="author" title="Elika J. The assert meta in css1test565b suffers from a cut and paste error: s/outside/inside; I would consider using 'dot' rather than 'bullet' to describe the output, as in "There must be a blue dot outside and to the left of the navy rectangle below:" Otherwise, they look good to me. Ok, fix checked in. ~fantasai |
