WTTTF and WTOPS Meeting

All members: We will have a meeting on July 7 (Tuesday) at Advance Quik Lube on Andrews Hwy. Our agenda will include discussions concerning the WTOPS group, how we can grow the group, how we can promote more money for the group, and possibly electing someone that will be the spokesperson and leader of the group. This group is capable of providing some of the most exiting racing in the sport and we thank each participant and sponsor that we have had the past couple of years. There are some who would like a few rules changes in order to help pull in more cars, there are those who want no changes, and those who do not care either way. Once some leadership is appointed, only that group would be responsible for voting in how they want their rules. We must keep in mind that any changes will affect the whole WTOPS group and it would not be good to attract 2 or 3 and lose 4 or 5.
We will also address issues in the 10.5 group concerning possible weight breaks for nitrous cars. We must remember that we set our rules for 3 years. If it is a majority decision to give some small wt. breaks to keep everything even, then we will vote to see if the group even wants to consider a change. Then we will vote on what the change will be. I will try to contact all of the out of town racers that I can and get their take on what our discussions will be about and if enough of our paid members are present we will put a few of these things to a vote. We have a few safety issues that will be discussed, the over-all health of the organization, and our financial status. I want to personally thank every active and inactive member for there hard work. We have approximately 35 WTTTF cars that have participated this year and approximately 13 WTOPS cars that have participated. We have an inactive list of about 33 who have participated in the past but have not this year. The long hauls by those far away and the over-all economy has hurt somewhat, but we have some ideas and a few potential sponsors for the latter part of the year that may help out.
The last 3 races should bring a pretty good turn-out and I am looking forward to your input for the future and again want to thank the tracks and the sponsors for their dedication. We are learning every year and as time goes on I think we will have less and less confusion. Again I would like to say that we have a few gals and a couple of guys who work very hard to make these races come off and get very little recognition. Since it is almost 200 miles to here, are you going to do a conference call or something also?  That is too far to haul on a Tuesday.  We racers from the Abilene area need input also.  This is not only a Midland/Odessa class.

The more I think a bought this .......the more confused I get!! A sincere thank you to Ricky Dyer for trying to help!! However you may want to check with El Presiden’te and the click/crew for approval prior to calling your meeting! I thought only the President or his staff could call a meeting?? I recall awhile back we (WTOPS) wanted to call a meeting and were told no!!!! The rules will not change due to current charter! Maybe it is time for change………Like new unbiased President / Click. Maybe the WTOPS should have their own representation….should I bring a Lawyer??? Come on guys this is suppose to be fun!!!!!!!!! Main problem ……….President cloaking himself in authority he doesn’t have!!

What facts am I missing??? I want to make sure I get this right!!! When were you at a meeting??

The officers were well aware of this meeting. I feel a huge responsibility due to being one of those who original got this thing off the ground and running. Lets not let our emotions run wild.....we do have sponsors and track owners that frequent this board. We have a great group of racers and this sport is really competitive. Please come to the meeting with a positive attitude because I believe we will come out of it with some very good changes. There is a lot more to promoting monies and fielding all of the calls than meets the eye. I probably should have stepped up long ago and taken the advice of many (Thormeyer, Dempsey, UNC, Neal, Kenny, and many of our local guys). We need to make the playing field fair. It may be that we make some changes now and maybe some more at year end. It all depends on what the guys decide to vote on and then takes a majority vote. As far as the WTOPS go, I have some ideas for us that I believe you guys will like. It will help to field more cars, possibly get us more sponsor money, and each group (WTTTF and WTOPS) will have their own coordinator and the buck stops with that person. This will take the heat off the officers and keep them from having to make calls on matters that they may not have the knowledge of. Please hang with me on this and lets give everyone the benefit of the doubt. We have all worked hard and can continue to have fun and pay some good purses if we all work together. I have had several calls from out of town members and at this point everyone is being very positive. We probably will not have a conference call during the meeting but for anyone who has a question please call. We do not want anyone left out.  Ricky D.   432 770 7172
