I am out on the chesapeake bay for my last fall overnight and the
electric water pump for the sink faucet won't work.  I emptied the
tank three weeks ago and then filled it today.  I can hear the motor
running when I switch on the faucet but mo water.  Do I need to prime
it.  Any suggestions would be welcome.  I have a full tank of water
but can't wash up.

Chris,
My understanding is that the pump needs to be primed. The old
electric Atwoods also had a hand pump just behind the top of the faucet.

BTW, we replaced ours with a foot pump and better hand pump a few years ago.

Enjoy your night. We've been waiting for a weather window that didn't
interfere with the World Series. May get one last one in yet.

Thanks for the quick reply.  It's a nice evening at dividing creek,
lots of noisy geese.  Do you know how to prime the pump?  A hand pump
is now ony wish list.

Chris,

If there's no water in the bilge, priming is probably your problem.  My
faucet has a manual plunger option that works by turning the valve knob
counterclockwise to release the plunger piston.  Pump up and down until
water flows.

Chris,

I remounted the pump below the tank, three years ago,and haven't had to
prime the pump since.

Chris,
Ditch the electric pump and install a simple foot pump like I did
(keep it simple is my motto). It pumps 1 oz/ pump & a water tankful
will last all season.

Fix less / sail more

This is pretty good Chris.  A real time help desk for sailing and
overnighting.

It's great that you've gotten so much use from your boat this year.  Good on
ya.
