Weapons Training in modern times

In todays society, do you think that weapons training holds any value other than to learn weapons for traditional uses( ie demonstration)This is asked to raise the issue of carrying any sort of weapon with you would in almost all cases lead to arrest and prosecution,you cannot use a weapon to defend yourself ,but can learn to defend against them,so what is your opinion ?

Yeah weapons training does have its uses, not only to defend against them. If you look at most martial arts weapons they were improvised form farm tools or whatever was at hand and there is still plenty of stuff lying about in the street that could be adapted to suit without having to carry a weapon and break the law. Also it is useful to know how to use weapons properly in the event of you disarming someone else and turning their own weapon on them (with appropriate force of course...)
