time PROJECT LOCATION Olympia, WA PROJECT TIMEFRAME November 2009 to February 2010 CONTACT Lani Hathaway lanihathaway@... BACKGROUND The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) is working
collaboratively with Anthro-Tech, Inc. to redesign their web site
www.wtsc.wa.gov using a user-centered design process. We are looking for an
experienced writer to partner with to write the content for the new site. REQUESTED SERVICES & DELIVERABLES As the writer, you will assist WTSC staff to write, edit,
and manage content for: - Web site pages: approximately 100 content pages, 20 menus - A handful of staff and information directories - A Grant application - Web site maintenance processes - Web site standards RESPONSIBILITIES In a 3-month timeframe, you will work collaboratively with
staff and consultants to write concise content for the newly-architected web
site: - Write, edit and improve existing content - Work with agency staff, leadership, and usability consultants
to review and approve content - Facilitate re-organizing and re-writing a key grant
application - Document how to use the agency content management system
(WordPress) - Summarize dos and don'ts into usable web site standards
and web style guide RESOURCES In addition to the existing content on the current site, we
will provide you with: - business goals that have been established for the project - user research that has been summarized into audience
personas - the new information architecture & who to contact for
each page of content - mockups of page templates for the different types of pages
on the site REQUIREMENTS - Work with staff and consultants to create a detailed
schedule for writing, reviewing and delivering content a) Meet onsite 2-3 days per week in Olympia, WA b) Closely assist staff in writing, editing and reviewing
content c) Smoothly schedule and hand-off content to web team for
implementation - Ensure consistency in voice, tone and style across all web
content - Understand established agency goals and business
requirements and ensure web content reflects these requirements - Tailor content to the site audiences/personas to help them
accomplish their top tasks - Write within the framework of the user research-based
information architecture QUALIFICATIONS - Portfolio of web writing projects and sound working
knowledge of current web content development practices - Minimum 5 years of professional writing experience, with 3
years writing web content. - Working knowledge of web usability standards and common
style guide practices - Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and
complete individual assignments - Enthusiasm for guiding and leading others in writing
effective web communications Vendor must be willing to enter into a subcontract with
Anthro-Tech with terms in close alignment with our contract with the Washington
Traffic Safety Commission. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS - Cover letter explaining why you are right for this project - Resume - Portfolio of 2-3 web sites for which you have written 75%
or more of the content for the site to demonstrate you know how to write
specifically for the web - Summary of your proposed process and approach for working
with staff and consultants to create the schedule & write the content - Cost estimate for the project - 3 Professional References - Proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance Only complete submissions please. Vendors are invited to submit questions via e-mail to
