Weird issue with network cards

Hi,

I was trying to make an Attansic Technology Corp.|Device 1062 network
card. So I've found an official patch on a testing kernel on
http://users.mandriva.com.br/~herton/bug51016/. That kernel didn't fix
the issue (Driver from Atheros site fixed the issue). So I uninstalled
it. Now comes the weird thing and side effect. I was using the ath5k
module for Atheros Communications Inc.|AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI
Express Adapter, that it worked fine except led light. Now, after
above steps, wifi card is using madwifi drivers because led light
works and as you can see at lspci output:

Slot:   01:00.0
Class:  Ethernet controller
Vendor: Atheros Communications Inc.
Device: AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter
SVendor:        Foxconn International, Inc.
SDevice:        Device e00d
Rev:    01
Driver: ath_pci
Module: ath5k
Module: ath_pci

What I'd be glad to know is why and how did rpms operations make that.
How the system is choosing madwifi drivers. What config files has
prioriy? /etc/mod* files, udev, hal? what of them?

Thanks in advance!
