You
will work within the Wheelchair and Seating service, joining an expanding
multidisciplinary team which provides services from clinics within WESTMARC and
at several outlying clinics to 45,000 patients. Seating for postural
management, equipment for pressure sore prevention and specialist controls for
powered mobility are included. The team works closely with other NHS
departments, education, social work and vehicle transport organisations. This
service is integrated with other WESTMARC based services including
environmental controls and prosthetics and orthotics.
You
will have opportunities to undertake research and development activities to
enhance service delivery and develop consistent practice and knowledge across
You
will be a State Registered Clinical Scientist, ideally with a first or second
class Honours Degree in Engineering. You should also have good communication
skills and be able to problem solve using your experience and engineering
skills. Experience in the field of rehabilitation technology would be an
advantage as would experience of working with individuals with disabilities. A
driving license is essential and you should be willing to occasionally drive
for extended distances as some clinics are geographically remote from the base,
Westmarc.
