What I did while y'all were at the boat show....

The Hospice Regatta was this weekend at the Rivah.....so I had to work the end of the week at the marina .....here are several photos of the event...this is Saturday, the day of Da Wind...
1. the Riverboat for spectators to enjoy the races both days. 2. wild winds 1&2 ....the winds increased steadily all afternoon...cold & wet at race time. Word was they were 15 gusting to 25. My SO is at the tiller in WW # 1..tanbark sails...boat is a Stone Horse 3. Man OB 1 &2... the race committee delayed the race for 30 mins to allow everyone to get out to the start (they were idiots). @ 141 boats were alll circling around the start line..several collisions...we were @ 50 yds away when I saw the two boats almost collide...and the fellow landed in the water. the winds made it very difficult (we were in a powerboat from the marina) to approach from downwind.. Two of us got him out of the water while our helmsman did a great job of getting us into position & keeping us there. 4. Oops ..enuf said Lotsa wind. Great Photos! Did Poe Bird get knocked over by the light blue keelboat? Picture is great but could be deceiving. Do any Rhodes 22 enter this race? I'm not too up on racing rules.Poe Bird was apparently on port tack & the other was on stbd tack. PB's owner said in the paper that the other boat was out of position...as the boats were jockeying before the race, there was no 'position' to be had.....he should have yielded & didn't /...at least to my understanding of the rules of the road.We have had no R22's enter...there is one at the mairina where I work which hosts the event & one other on the Northern Neck,. I wish we could have one or more.
