What do you recommend for Windows S/W to make slide show with music?I have about 2.5 gb of best of photos of our 23 day John Muir Trail hike (we
had 3-5 photographers on the hike) and would like to make a slide show with cool transition effects plus background music and the finished show can be shown on a TV. Do you have any recommended Software. I'd like to upload it to You Tube too, but in a manner that does not get the copyright cops after me -- I like http://www.youtube.com/user/HikingDaveThatHikes#play/uploads/10/D_t_FMi8SfA(click on some of his JMT videos). With his back ground music, options come up to click on amazon and buy the music -- so I bet no copyright cops are upset about use of the music. Only thing missing in his slide show is the lack of transition effects which I find cool. Any recommendations -- what have you used? Any links? Thanks! Roleigh |

Re: What do you recommend for Windows S/W to make slide show with music?Hi Roleigh,
Here's a link to a site ranking photo slideshow software: http://photo-slideshow-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ And here's one to a site that sells royalty-free music: http://photo-slideshow-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ If you Google "photo slideshow software" and "royalty free music," you'll find other options. Many of the slideshow aps have free trial version downloads. And any reputable royalty-free music provider allows you to sample a portion of the cut you're considering. Re: Re: What do you recommend for Windows S/W to make slide show with music?Bill, both of your links are 100% the same, did you mean to provide a
different link for the site that sells royalty-free music? Thanks,. It's certainly worth the download. rob |

Search on royalty free music to stay in the clear there...you can buy CDs full of some decent stuff for not too much money. HTH, John |

Re: What do you recommend for Windows S/W to make slide show with music?Roleigh,
Adobe Photoshop Elements will make good slide shows, with transitions, and music (you supply the mp3 file). My old Version 4 is a bit buggy, but the latest version should be better. Output format and resolution can be varied to optimize for an analog TV or HD TV, or PC output. Elements has so many other features, that it is really overkill for making slideshows, but it is very easy to learn. Re: Re: What do you recommend for Windows S/W to make slide show with music?I ended up buying the ProShow Gold and it does work just great, the only
complaint is that there are about 100 output format possibilities for creating a video file and I'm trying to find the highest quality output for 3 separate video files that I pull into Nero DVD Vision where I make a DVD of the three shows. I've segmented the JMT hike into 3 eight day long segment shows. I tried HD video file at 720P and a 12 minute show created a 6.something GB file -- way too big for a DVD. I'll know more in a few weeks, I am running a bunch of output tests. I wish they had a matrix showing things so I'd know ahead of time what to expect, etc. Good thing I have 1.5 TB of disk space to play with. Thanks, everyone!
