What genres of music do list members make using Rosegarden?Inspired by Al Thompson's offlist email, in which he said he uses
composes prog/rock and uses it for actual guitars/vocals along with MIDI. I use it for classical, recording rock MIDI tracks and keyboard improvisations, and song writing. (I do which RG had a real lyric editor!). Re: What genres of music do list members make using Rosegarden?2009/10/12 david <gnome@...> Inspired by Al Thompson's offlist email, in which he said he uses Hi, I compose metal (sounding somewhere near a black metal genre), and sometimes intrumental/orchestral songs in my home studio. Rosegarden is a GREAT MIDI sequencer - with QSynth & ZynAddSubFX I use it for playing either background or a main melody track(s). For drumming I use an excellent Hydrogen. And for mixing an extraordinary Ardour - this is the place where all sounds go together recorded as separate tracks, including vocals, some effects, and of course the guitar lines! :) Now I plan to add JAMin to this environment to hopefully get better sounding :) Rosegarden is the essential portion when it comes to utilize synthesized sounds in my work. So a really BIG THANKS to the RG team/developers! Cheers! Tomek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! Not at the moment. There've been many changes in my audio environment recently, and, let's say, self-development :) Any way I'll make a zip pack of what I've managed to compose so far, and put to my server, so it'll be downloadable. I'll do it today or tomorrow, and send the link. Cheers! Tomek ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! Re: What genres of music do list members make using Rosegarden?Dear Noel,
I've listened a bit to your stuff. Just the first two pieces so far. May we add to your site to the small wiki collection of people who use RG? http://rosegardenmusic.com/wiki/projects There is not much there yet and the page could use a little love. The addition of your music would be an honor. The page is really just up to show friends some ideas I'm working on. Everything either needs some editing, rearranging, live instrument parts re-recorded, etc... There are lots of flaws. It's all more like a scrapbook really where you jot down ideas rather than the finished pieces. Noel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! In the zip you'll find the following songs: 01 - The Temple Of Red Moon - hardly listenable, really, it's done using old school samples from 90 years taken from a Gravis Ultrasound card. It's a total underground, probably the most funniest stuff, but everyone was starting somehow... ;) Done with SkaleTracker only. 02. Deaf Void - fresh samples, however still SkaleTracker only. 03. A Higher Form Of Dementia - the first one done with RG/MIDI + Hydrogen + Ardour, but still no real guitars; I know, that sucks. But Rosegarden rules ;) 04. Aera Draconis (Overture) - I wanted to create some more 'intrumental' stuff. Rosegarden heavily utilized too. 05. Aera Draconis - many ideas from the 'overture' transformed into heavier stuff. RG + others. 06. Passion Immortality - it's some kind of a breakthrough. I had bought real drum samples, and my very first... guitar :) I had started learning playing the guitar from what I had found on the Internet. After 5 months I recorded this song. I would say it's listenable, but hopefully my recordings will be better in future when my skills will grow stronger. Now I'm recording the guitar lines again for this song with better sounding (more less 70% ready), and I want to use JAMin at the end to see how it can influence the overall effect. OK, enough talking... Here you go: https://hellfire666.no-ip.org/~myst/in/pack.zip http://hellfire666.no-ip.org/~myst/in/pack.zip So please be tolerant and don't laugh too much :) Cheers! It has the CD we release about 4 years ago, plus a sampling of the new stuff we're working on. Composition of most of these, plus the demos were all done on Rosegarden. (the older stuff under the "Legacy" page was all analog, in the 70s/80s). Between the Lateral Force material, and the Legacy material, there's classic rock, prog, pop, and metal represented. -- Check out the website I've been cobbling together. Re: What genres of music do list members make using Rosegarden?Classical choral & small vocal ensemble editing & arrangement e.g. midi to notation & vice versa, transposition & playback for personal & group rehearsal, preparation of performance editions etc etc. Preparation of individual parts in midi. wav or mp3 format for distribution via web or email to choir members for learning / private rehearsal. Particularly used in conjunction with choral public domain library (www.cpdl.org). Notation, lyrics & high Q printing are critical for these purposes. Basic midi & midi import are important but sophisticated midi & recording capabilities less so. RG is a wonderful & essential tool, substituting for $$ M$win products such as Sibelius, NWC & Finale which I can't afford. Re: What genres of music do list members make using Rosegarden? My use of Rosegarden is much like John's. My primary
use is to produce individual part rehearsal tracks for our church choir. I would love to be able to use Rosegarden to produce lead sheets for guitar and vocal, but the last time I tried (about 6 to 8 years ago) I gave up. I'm currently "using" 1.5.1 ... one year I'll have to upgrade ;0) John Craick wrote: > Classical choral & small vocal ensemble editing & arrangement e.g. midi > to notation & vice versa, transposition & playback for personal & group > rehearsal, preparation of performance editions etc etc. Preparation of > individual parts in midi. wav or mp3 format for distribution via web or > email to choir members for learning / private rehearsal.
