(And so you know, GVFS questions should be asked on the GVFS mailing list, http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gvfs-list But it's easy to mistake, the list is very new). What license are dbus-gmain.[ch] under?Hi,
I am wonder what these two files are licensed under, the snipplet at the end. Is this LGPL or GPL or Academic Free License version 2.1? It is my understanding that gvfs uses D-Bus and not gio so it it compatible because of that. dbus-main is GPL/AFL dual licensed (always look at the COPYING file for a full description of the license). What dual licensing says is you can use the file under either license but under copyright law you may not modify the notice so if you use it under the AFL others can still use it under the GPL. You can however link any AFL compatible license and the GPL will not apply to the external source. We have been trying to re-license under MIT Permissive license to make it easier for some licensing corner cases but hit a roadblock so that may or may not happen. If your apps is not compatible with the GPL or AFL (such as GPL + exception licenses) you can add an AFL exception to your licenses (provided you have the rights) and use D-Bus under the AFL license. -- John (J5) Palmieri <johnp@...> _______________________________________________ gnome-vfs-list mailing list gnome-vfs-list@... http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-vfs-list |

Thanks John, and A.Walton! I got concerned because it appeared under libdaemon_la_SOURCES but as it turns up these is only used in the various gvfs-* commands after nm the binaries. Both your answers also helped me to understand quite a bit on dual licensing :) First time I see this in textual forms. Thanks, -Ghee > gio is lgpl because it is part of gtk+.
