I would like to address the open issues before going for a 0.10 release.

Next week I will be able to spend some time on this.

I'm all for a new release since there have been a bunch of changes since 0.9 (released a looong time ago)

and it appears as if there arent really any showstopper issues.

I've pushed a few fixes a couple of weeks ago with the intention of
wrapping things up to do a new release as, as you said there are many
fixes in CVS.

There is one issue in rome core that I would like to address but I
don't understand the bug, I've asked for comments but got nothing so
far.

  https://rome.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88

After we decide on this one we could do a release.

Thoughts.

I read that bug report and cant make heads or tails of it either.

If the reporter doesnt respond, you could always include in a subsequent release. Doesnt look like a showstopper bug in any case.

I think we have addressed all open issues on core.

What do people think about doing a new release, 0.10 ?

I would prefer not to call it v1.0 yet, rather v0.10.

I don't understand your reluctance to go to 1.0. ROME is basically
complete, no? Are you trying to use the version numbers to indicate
that ROME is alpha quality, unstable and not ready for production use?
I don't think that is the case.

Plus, going to 0.10 sounds like we're going backwards. I know how the
version numbers work, but casual observers are going to see 0.10 and
think we just made our first pre-alpha quality release.

What does the community of ROME developers and users think? Is ROME
ready to be called 1.0?

ROME 0.9 was released 30 months ago.   If we can't call it 1.0, can we at least call it 1.0RC or something?

The more I think about it, though... I want to know more. What is 0.9 missing such that 1.0 has such a barrier before it? Is there a planned feature that takes.. a year to build, but nobody knows about?

I don't mean to sound flippant - such is certainly not my intent. But a 1.0 would be welcomed and long overdue.

alright, alright. Agreed, there is nothing missing that should be
there before 1.0. So I guess we can go for 1.0.

I'm glad I didn't have to add my two cents to the versioning discussion
(and still be pleased with the outcome) ;)

I'm not sure how the releases of the subprojects are done, but I'd also
like to see the patch I've requested on the content module to be
included as well-- Issue 97-- a simple removal of a System.out.println
call.

Thanks,
Brian Collison

Erling,

I'll try to take care of it this week.

First there are a couple of emails from last week that I want to
verify to see if there is a problem or not (one of them 'rome atom 1.0
output incomplete').
