Why Agile? Why Now?

I find that first the first time in years, I am actually getting excited about the term "Agile Software Development" and "Agile Software Testing" - enough to write and speak in the space.

Yet the timing on that is odd.  I wonder why?

I did a blog post exploring the question; I am interested in what you think:

It sounds like you have written on the subject for a while and that you have
used (I assume successfully) the principles and techniques.

How are your feelings different?  Do you see it as more useful then before?
Do you understand it better?  Is your experience more complete?

I find that my understanding of it is better then a year ago and much better
then 3 years ago.  Although, many things still puzzle me.
