Robert,
CollabNet announced this morning that they will be unable to do the
upgrade next weekend as expected. As a result the wiki move has been
delayed as well. We're looking at our options and will let you know as
soon we have a plan in place. Whatever that plan is, no changes will be
made prior to JavaOne.
To say that I am disappointed and frustrated with this is a huge
understatement. I know how bad this looks, and how frustrated you must
be as well. The good news is that this does not change other plans for
improving java.net, and it also means I will have a lot more leverage in
making CollabNet deal with this wiki issue next time around.
I suspect that in the end, project owners will still need to provide a
list of URLs (and I'll certainly keep the ones you've sent in around)
simply because we just don't have a grip on how to slice and dice the
community wiki up properly going forward. On most of the wiki pages
it's just not obvious which project they belong to.
With the cancellation of the upgrade it is also possible that we'll move
to another community wiki platform (which should be an easy migration)
and wait to break them up into project specific wikis until after we
have the real infrastructure deployed that can accept them at the
project level.
I am sorry that this was so badly done from the start and that it fell
apart so close to the deadline.
Sonya
