Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 5735Z with Fedora11. I want to play some games and so i tried to start Torchlight. When I start it the whole system freezes and only reboot helps. I can't even move the mouse.
So I tried Steam. It worked perfectly and I was ably to Download Games. The I tried to start Team Fortress 2. It also freezed but I was able to move the mouse. So I wonder if there is any possibility to see what goes wrong. Even when I start with a terminal I can see no Error popping up.

Thank you so far
floxyz

Freezing is usually a hardware or driver problem. Wine does not have
direct access to hardware so this generally means it does not have the
ability to lock up a machine.

Other games, especially the native  version of World of Goo, don't make any problems and run perfectly. Is there any safe mode in wine or a log where I can see what happens?

Have you removed 64-bit Wine that comes default on your distro? It's broken and can cause all sort of issues.

I didn't do that. What is the best way to remove it completly from the system?
Shoul I install then the version from Wine HQ?
I don't want to loose Steam because its a huge amount of files I downloaded to install Team Fortress 2?

YUM or RPM. For details ask your distro.

It's the same packages.

See Steams AppDB HOWTO about completely reinstalling Steam while preserving all content.
