Without a doubt...problem SOLVED!!

Well, I just took another in-town run to assure that there would be lots of start and stop driving and absolutely no doubt about it, the "single cylinder" issue is solved. I wanted to post my super positive results after I was sure that the issue had truely been beat down (she's been backfiring for 14-years...now, nada). After this final test ride, I'm convinced that all the problems leading up to the "single cylinder" issue can be linked to this short in the harness...

At this point, I'm so stoked that I just HAVE to share this with everyone in hopes that it will help you get your bike running the way it should...
