Write to Contacts DB doesn't sync

Hello,

I wrote a simple Plua2 application that modifies the Contacts/Address
database.  The application works great, but when I perform a hot sync
the data is not synchronized to my PC.  

I am able to force a sync by changing the PC Hot Sync parameters to
"Handheld Overwrites Desktop", but I would like to update the
Contacts/Address DB to invoke a standard sync.

Can anyone point me on how to do this?
