The second beta release of Xaraya 2.0.0 (Jamaica) is now available at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xaraya/.

A large part of the changes in this release have to do with cleanup and
filling in the missing pieces to make the Jamaica core feature complete.
Some of this is trivial, while some changes will drive further
enhancements down the road. The latter are listed in the first group below.

Changes with planned further evolution in future releases

1. Added HTML pages for GPL and credits page
2. Added the experimental Access property, wrapper for security chekc
functionality that includes a condition for group membership
3. Split off the pager code from lib/xaraya/templates.php: it doesn't
need to load with every page
4. Added a system var for the character set to be used: for now this
sets the charset for tables at installation (to the extent they don't
default to the default charset), as well as the client connection to the
database. This change is only for MySQL and PostgreSQL (for now).
5. Fixed PostgreSQL support in the core and core modules.
6. More strict types in dynamicdata: booleans, integers and floats are
converted to their respective types when retrieved from the DB (simple
retrieval leaves them as strings)
7. Various minor fixes and continuing code cleanup (replacing deprecated
calls, removing unused code, cleaning up templates)

Completed changes with no planned further evolution in future releases:

1. The ModuleAliases configvar is now initialized in the installer
2. Replaced the private resolveModuleAlias method with
xarModuleAlias::resolve
3. Added a variant of the 1x OrderSelect property to the codebase and
applied it in the Base and Blocks modules
4. Lightened the javascript API by replacing some API calls in the tags

The next beta release of Jamaica, which can be expected in about the
same time frame, will incorporate:

- Further steps in the evolution of the first group above
- The possible merge of the tableddl scenario (currently being evaluated)
- Some more minor enhancements from other scenarios
- Fixes and changes as per any feedback received.
- Any feature requests received will be reviewed as to their feasibility
in the next or future releases, and feedback will be given.

Please direct all bugs to the new "App - Core Jamaica" product at
http://bugs.xaraya.com/.
