Xerox WorkCentre M118: Missing A3 paper size

Hello!

We have a Xerox WorkCentre M118, capable of printing via PCL6 and
PostScript. While PostScript printing (vendor ppd) crashes the printer
more often than not, the Gutenprint driver does not have this issue, so
we use Gutenprint.

The only downside:
The paper size options are *very* sparse in the Gutenprint driver.

Compare this

to this (vendor ppd)
http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/3828/m118xeroxppd.png

While i don't care much about the Japanese Postcard format,
I really need the A3 paper size.

What to do?

Is it a bad idea to copy the papersize definition lines from the vendor
ppd to the Gutenprint one?

Could i use the vendor ppd with Gutenprint's PCL rasterizer by copying
the cupsFilter line there?

Thank you for any suggestions!
Jakob

The PPDs for the Gutenprint printers are generally reflective of what
the driver can do.  In other words, just adding a paper entry for A3
will not enlarge the printing area.  I would suggest that you try the
Generic PCL 6/PCL XL LF Printer driver.  This large format driver
will support A3 paper size.

It would be useful to determine which of the laser printers we list
support A3/tabloid size and reclassify them.  Tim Waugh, any thoughts
on this?

I don't know any short-cut for doing this unfortunately.

The "Generic PCL 6/PCL XL LF Printer" driver works very well for two
weeks now (including A3 printing), thank you very much for the suggestion!

Good to know.  Thanks.
