XrunsI'm back to using Jack for recording on Fedora-11 Linux, using input
from the line port to be recorded using Audacity. Jack is reporting what seems to be a large number of xruns, which I don't remember seeing on Fedora-10 on the same system. Typical statistics are as follows. These statistics were recorded without audacity (or any other audio application) running: DSP Load: 0.084% Sample Rate 48000 Hz Buffer Size 1024 Frames Realtime Mode Yes Transport State Rolling Xrun count 10 (11) Min Sched Delay 0.055 msec Last Reset 15:05:42 (00:36:14) Questions: * Is this a reasonable number of xruns? (I doubt it.) * What is the exact meaning of 10 (11)? I.e. 10 of what, 11 of what? * What exactly does it mean for jack to be "rolling"? System description * AMD Quad-Core Processor running at 1.3 Ghz * 8 Gbytes RAM * Fedora-11 with all updates including * qjackctl-0.3.4-1.fc11.x86_64 * alsa-plugins-jack-1.0.20-2.fc11.x86_64 * jack-audio-connection-kit-1.9.2-2.fc11.ccrma.x86_64 * pulseaudio-module-jack-0.9.15-14.fc11.x86_64 Thanks - jon _______________________________________________ Jack-Devel mailing list Jack-Devel@... http://lists.jackaudio.org/listinfo.cgi/jack-devel-jackaudio.org |

Maybe you got the xruns while starting an audio application. The xruns seem to appear randomly, or just possibly from doing things with non-audio applications. jon _______________________________________________ Jack-Devel mailing list Jack-Devel@... http://lists.jackaudio.org/listinfo.cgi/jack-devel-jackaudio.org |

I only would be scared if there would be xruns when recording the final mix.
