Xylaria & Soft Rot

Greetings!

Currently, are /Xylaria/ species considered to be White Rots, or are
they considered to be Soft Rots, with White Rot characteristics?
I've seen both assertions in print, so I expect that either at some
point the classification changed, or the study results have been ambiguous.
