Dear
Motorcycle Community:

 

It
has come to the attention of the PRO Convention Committee and affiliates that
there has been a lot of confusion in regards to the PROC (PRO Convention) and
BETC (Bikers Empowerment Training Conference).  We have written this
statement to try and bring insight to the situation and steps the PROC has
taken to resolve the confusion.

 

Earlier
in the year we observed a duplicate convention/conference being formulated thus
BETC. The purpose/intent of the conference was outlined in the manner of the
PRO Convention; however we (the PROC affiliates) decided take no action or make
any statements.

 

As
time passed, we were informed of a lot of confusion that was occurring due to
the following:

 


 BETC taking the PROC
     mission statement and modifying it to mask the duplication;  
 The information on the
     flyers and website were also conducted in the same fashion, again modified
     to try and mask the duplication;  
 The structure of BETC is
     exactly the same as the PROC including but not limited to:  


 

o        Saturday’s
Main conference with speakers & break out sessions

o        Dedication to
the fallen riders ceremony

o        Saturday Lunch
& Sunday’s Breakfast

o        Entrance to
the Friday night meet n greet,  

o        Entrance to Saturday
night’s After party free for attendees;

o        Gift bags,
T-shirts etc; and the list continue

o        Strategically
setting the BETC within a 2 week time frame of the proc

 

We
received concerns via emails, phone calls, face to face contact etc, from
people inquiring if we changed the name of the PRO Convention, location, date,
price etc (because of the obvious duplication of the PROC.) After being
contacted numerous times regarding this confusion we then decided to make
several attempts to have a phone conference with Black Widow (Founder of BETC)
and her team, to discuss how to decrease the confusion. The conference call was
scheduled and on the date of the call Black Widow indicated she would not be
available for the scheduled time, requesting a later time.  She then
decided she would not be even for her chosen time slot.  She emailed and
stated she would schedule a time and date within 24 to 48 hours; that time has
not come.  We also followed the code of our MC Community and tried to make
contact with the President of her club, to no avail, we were unable to speak
with him or get contacted back.  Instead of Black Widow trying to be
rational and communicate with the PROC, she decided to begin sending us emails
regarding her event.  In another attempt, we even reached out to members
of her team, also to no avail. We have even received emails from members of her
alliance cussing out PROC supportive clubs who request they remove them from
their mailing list. (Documentation available upon request) We have been nothing
but professional and were not disrespectful to her or anyone else in her circle
from day one.  

 

Then
to further the confusion (and this is something we have previously spoken of,
and became concerned with as a community) people manipulating and knowingly
making false statements.  One example is a vendor who was trying to
contact the PRO Convention, however due to the duplication was confused. 
They accidentally contacted Black Widow and in the letter mentioned some
statements that would undoubtedly alert Black Widow they were not speaking of
her event.  Instead of steering the individual in the right direction or
even state something as “this is not the convention you are looking for
however I offer something similar”, she instead sends her information as
if she was The PROC (documentation available upon request).  Black Widow
has also been contacting vendors that have previously & continuously
supported the PROC trying to portray her event to be one of unison with the
PROC. In addition, we have observed that she has duplicated forms that the PROC
has formulated such as vendor contracts, sponsorship packages & etc for her
own purpose.

 

 

Why
all this?  We had to ask ourselves the same question.  It has come to
our attention that Black Widow was an individual who applied to be a Team
Leader of the PRO Convention.  Unfortunately, her request was declined due
to the very nature that we see before us today; her deceitfulness (documentation
available upon request).    

 

We’re
bringing this forth to you, the community, because this is a perfect example of
what we discuss and try to stop or decrease as much as possible.  This is
equal to someone stealing the design of your colors, then making a new name for
the club, or stealing your mission statement or bylaws etc.  Let this be
an example to everyone who you communicate with and allow into your
circle.  Someone who can not take being rejected or turned down is like a
cancer that spread, as in this situation.  The PRO Convention was
formulated not just for P.R.O.’s but for all officers within a
club.  Within our convention, we highlight breaking down division amongst
our community, learning from our peers, safety within our sports, finances,
becoming incorporated, 501C3, being responsible individuals, parents,
colleagues etc, and the list goes on and on.  Our convention, the PRO
Convention is an educational/learning seminar on not only our sports/club
involvement, but all aspects of our lives.    

 

We
ask that you please be careful when registering and ensure you have registered
for the correct convention, the PRO Convention. Find us @
www.proconvention.com.  For those who indicated they have registered, and
did not see your name or our attendee list, please look at your credit card
statements or pay pal receipts and ensure it was the PROC.  Chances are
you registered for the wrong convention, ensure you make the correction. 
 

 

We
strongly apologize for the confusion and as stated we tried to rectify this
situation professionally and as much as possible, but to no avail. 
However, it makes you think of when you were a child and did something wrong;
you avoided your parents at all costs.  No different here.  Instead
of trying to resolve and decrease the confusion as much as possible, BETC feel
it’s better to hide.
