YS 828W Noise in Transmission

Hi, I have a Yamaha YS828W snowblower that I bought in Oct of 1990 and just within the last few days I'am hearing some grinding in the wheel transmission either in forward or reverse.it only seems to happen as it hits a certain part of the revolution of the gears and seems to repeat itself over and over again at that spot with the unit in neutral or in any gear.I pulled the bottom cover off where the transmission is and the noise seems to be coming from the transmission. It still allows me to go in any gear and in reverse but it makes a lot of noise at that certain point.Any ideas?

Did you see this earlier post? It might be the reduction gear in your transmission.  I spoke with a guy from York Maine that paid his dealer $200 to replace the part.  Then he sold the snowblower on Craigslist.

Does is sound like this guy's snowblower. Listen carefully.

Hi.

I live in Norway and has got a YS624W, from 1988 ore 1989.
It has worked perfect until now, but a few days ago, while working with the snow, I heard a slammering nise - very much alike the one you can hear in the link above.
It lost traction in 1th and 2nd gear, but I managed to take it back to the parking space in 3rd gear.

I have not had time to check the problem yet, but hope to get some guiding on this nice website.

Best regards from Fiwo, just recovering after WRC Rally Norway - in the Norwegian forests last weekend.
