I am looking for a second hand Hayabusa manifold for my car. I am in the throughs of fitting a Busa engine into my Stuart Taylor (Aries)and need a branch so that I can assemble my cradle to fit around it. I am quite flexable with the type of manifold, so something like a Megabusa or MNR or MK should be fine. My budget has been hit quite hard with my new engine so please be gentle.

Hi Sam

You might be lucky here as these engines are tough little sods :))

I'd fill it with halfords el-cheapo bike oil, then give it a good spin on
the starter motor only with no plugs in to circulate the new oil. I'd be
tempted to then drain it into a clean bowl and have a look at it. If it's
badly emulsified then dispose of and do the same again until it looks
reasonable enough to fire the engine up. At that point again I'd run for a
few minutes, drain and inspect. Repeat as necessary and once you get to a
reasonable consistency you're happy with take it out for a run and drive it
HARD for a good 20 mins.

If was damaged by the initial problem you'lll know about it soon enough, but
a hard drive will cause any residual coolant to boil off.

Finally let it cool a bit and drain once more. If it still looks ok, then
just put it back in and forget about it.

Lets hope you caught it in time!!!!!

Trying to clean out an emulsified system is a nightmare.....
I think I'd try some sort of engine flush additive, mixed in with the oil, to try and get it all out, but please check to make sure it's compatible with bikes!!!!
> I pulled it out at the side of the road and patched it with rubber hose and

I run the busa in my hillclimb car . Yes the pair system is removed, no I
don't run a remote filter. I also don't run any additional sensors although
I do believe an oil pressure sensor can be located at the end of the main
oil gallery by removing the plug & replacing with an appropriate adapter.

I have a oil temp sensor in my blackbird westy and its mounted throught the
centre of the oil drain plug
Does anyone run a remote oil filter setup, if so what size sandwich plate
Where have you mounted oil pressure/temp sensors?
> Yes I have removed the PAIR system save about 2 kilos ;)
>
> I have used the SBD/Nova Racing/Extreme Engines dry sump kit so have not
> moved the original filter as there was no need to in my installation
> (Westfield)
>
> Oil pressure take off is from the gallery by the OE oil pressure switch,I
> use the original oil pressure switch too as a warning light.
>
> Oil temperature is taken from the Westfield dry sump tank which has a take
> off in the bottom.
>
> As I have the Race Technology Dash 2 I am using a Bosch sensor for oil temp
> and water temp but a VDO sensor for oil pressure.
>
> I do have a spare adaptor for the oil pressure gallery which will accept a
> VDO oil pressure sensor if you need it.
>
> Can I ask why you want to relocate the oil filter?

Oil pressure take off is from the gallery by the OE oil pressure switch,I

As I have the Race Technology Dash 2 I am using a Bosch sensor for oil temp
Hi JR & all

Thanks for the info on the Yamaha regulator I think that was what the
finned one was that lasted well but still broke eventually.

If anyone¹s looking for a really nice miniature and light alternator to be
driven off the prop or whatever, you could do worse than to check out Ark
Racing¹s 120amp one(he¹s an old mate from the Trials world). I think they
are about £120 any use for Porsche?

Yes, some of us old folk are still around......
Sold my Fury blade about 31/2 years ago now, but still miss it, so just be warned....the pain doesn't go away!!!!
I think I need to get another toy to take my mind off it all...
I still check the forum to keep up with events/projects.
Back to the subject....Alternators.....I would agree with Mike, and look at mounting a car derived unit transmission driven. If you look at the back of most sports cars (racing) you will see an alternator near the rear diff!!! Obviously it's doing nothing until your moving, but I don't think that'll be a problem in your situation.....

Good Luck!

 Yes your fault :)

Within 30 seconds of the ride in your car I think I expleted the lines
"I've got to have me one o' these!" And Mr Borris' car inspired me to
 start with a Phoenix.

My pushing of the boundaries nowadays in BECs, is in long distance
rallies (drove it to Slovenia through the Alps last year).

You are more than welcome to come out for a spin anytime Andy.

 Cheers
 think
 I'll build another,but this time I'll do it different/better :-)
Nobody asks anything I can help with so I stay quiet. It seems a pretty
mature technology now, not like 10 years ago eh lads?

I'd love to meet up and blag a ride in one to remind me what I'm
 missing.
Jim would seem the obvious choice as I think it was me at Brooklands
more common nowadays and the "discoveries" and "how tos" are less an
 issue.

There also seems to have been a migration to locostbuilders as a good
Yes your fault :)

I still lurk despite having sold mine 5 years ago! I can't help but
think
I'll build another,but this time I'll do it different/better :-)
Nobody asks anything I can help with so I stay quiet. It seems a pretty
mature technology now, not like 10 years ago eh lads?

I'd love to meet up and blag a ride in one to remind me what I'm
missing.
Jim would seem the obvious choice as I think it was me at Brooklands
that
got him hooked in the first place...

And Nige, Rhodri and Chris. I am still subscribed but BECs are a bit
more common nowadays and the "discoveries" and "how tos" are less an
issue.

There also seems to have been a migration to locostbuilders as a good
source of info for BECs.

Seeing as all the old hacks are crawling out of the woodwork, how about a breakfast meet to kick tyres swap build stories and indulge in something fried and bacon-ny? If it's not precipitating heavily, we could always combine it with a small and scenic run too.

I know that Chris, Bazzer and I are all on the South Coast of the UK.

 Anyone interested?

 Mike.

Sold mine at start of 2008 but had a go in Lee Champion's (ex-Jim's R1 Phoenix) on the North Weald msa sprint circuit and it brought back happy memories (once I'd decided to forego the ultra-light clutch and go for clutchless shifts). Still have naughty thoughts (but not space or budget) for another one.

I still lurk despite having sold mine 5 years ago! I can't help but think
I'll build another,but this time I'll do it different/better :-)
Nobody asks anything I can help with so I stay quiet. It seems a pretty
mature technology now, not like 10 years ago eh lads?

I'd love to meet up and blag a ride in one to remind me what I'm missing.
Jim would seem the obvious choice as I think it was me at Brooklands that
got him hooked in the first place...

And Nige, Rhodri and Chris. I am still subscribed but BECs are a bit
more common nowadays and the "discoveries" and "how tos" are less an
issue.

There also seems to have been a migration to locostbuilders as a good
source of info for BECs.

And Nige, Rhodri and Chris. I am still subscribed but BECs are a bit
more common nowadays and the "discoveries" and "how tos" are less an
issue.

There also seems to have been a migration to locostbuilders as a good
source of info for BECs.
