Speaking of shotgun, anybody want a meeting? :-) I'd be up for one

Zope 3 Boot Camp and Sprint registration open

The Triangle (NC) Zope and Python Users Group invites you to register
for Camp 5 and the BBQ Sprint:

This is a Zope 3 boot camp followed by a Plone 3 sprint. The boot camp
is taught by Philipp von Weitershausen, author of Web Component

What a better way to spend Valentine's day!?!?!

I would like to get back into the ZPUG...but did realize early on that
it was geared to a much different (read higher) level than those who are
non-ZC-employees. MOST of what was discussed was so far above me that it
was hard to follow. Just my observation.

This sounds GREAT to me. I like those rules.

ZC (thanks, Rob!) is happy to offer the basement for meetings if a ZC
employee is there. Obviously, it has a downside for informal, but
maybe an upside for presentational.

I think that the burden of hospitality for prior ZPUG meetings was
unfairly dumped on Zope Corp's shoulders. I'd like to propose that we
adopt some form of the "shotgun rules for meetings":

before. One downside to meeting at a restaurant is that it makes formal
presentations harder. Perhaps we could just let the caller choose

- Jim Fulton will present the talk he gave last week at EuroPython on
zc.buildout. The zc.buildout project provides support for creating
applications, especially Python applications. It provides tools for
assembling applications from multiple parts, Python or otherwise.

ZPUG Wed. May 10: pygame and Twisted+PyObjC+Flicker!

Please join us this Wednesday, May 10, 7:30-9:00 PM, for the next
meeting of the Fredericksburg, VA Zope and Python User Group
("ZPUG"). Come for Pygame, Twisted, PyObjectiveC (i.e. Python for
Macs), and food!

Zac Bir will present on using Twisted with PyObjC to make a Flickr
photo browser.

Benji York will give an overview of Pygame (http://pygame.org) using
as an example a small program that displays the results of unit test
runs as fish swimming (or not) in an aquarium.

We've had a nice group for all the meetings. Please come and bring
friends!

Fredericksburg, VA ZPUG Apr 12: Zenoss (Zope/Python network monitoring) and py2exe

Please join us Wed., April 12, 7:30-9:00 PM, for another meeting of
the Fredericksburg, VA Zope and Python User Group ("ZPUG"). We will
have a lightning talk about py2exe (build a Windows executable from a
Python app), a full presentation on Zenoss (network and systems
monitoring application written in Python/Zope), and some nice snacks.

Because of the Zenoss presentation, this will be a joint ZPUG and LUG
(Linux Users Group) meeting.

Lightning Talk: John Kimball will demonstrate how to use Py2Exe to
create a standalone Windows executable from a Python script.

Full presentation: Zenoss is a powerful network and systems
monitoring application written in Python/Zope that has recently been
launched at www.zenoss.org. Erik Dahl and Bill Karpovich from Zenoss
will provide an overview of the project, a walkthrough of the
architecture and a live demonstration.
