	<content type="html">Varanus salvator komaini is no longer a recognized taxon. It is considered a form (not sure of the exact genetic relationship..) of Varanus salvator macromaculatus. However, this name is still widely (yet erroneously) used, particularly by dealers with whom a unique-sounding name = a higher price tag.</content>

	<content type="html">There are four currently recognized: Varanus salvator salvator, Varanus salvator macromaculatus, Varanus salvator bivittatus, and Varanus salvator andamanensis. Four former subspecies (togianus, marmoratus, nuchalis, and cumingi) were elevated (or I should say, re-elevated) to full species a couple years ago. In addition, the taxonomy of the salvator-complex is some areas - particularly Sulawesi - is not yet resolved and the description of new forms is likely.</content>
