ability to remotely update page?

I was interested in a possibility of say using my linux installation of the software and update it by an email into a gmail acount to update the page? Would this be something that is supported? done before? and if so how was it implimented?

The mailin feature you decribe existed, and worked at one time, i haven't tested it lately but am interested having ti working too. The email template potential (email integration) for tiki is worthy of some investment.

  I developed a command-line PHP script to convert a web site from
another format into Tiki -- it directly creates or updates pages in
the database.

  Using a variant of this script, we maintain data pages on my project
website, see e.g. www.chiroping.org/data/internal/macrophyllum, by
direct injection of wikitext constructed when an email is auto-generated
after the data repository is updated.

  This is a (very restricted, for security reasons) version of page
update by email update, which I'm happy to share if anyone is
interested.
