about mac stuff

I have been goobering around on the mac at work for testing purposes,
and so I have ended up installing conkeror on the machine.  In the
process of I have tweaked a few things with the install, just ui
prettiness really.

One is that I took that icon from the mailing list of a conker and
created an icns file with it.

I thought about attaching it, but it as 700kb, so that would be bad
form.  So I thought I would attach it to the MacOsInstall page on the
wiki, but I am not allowed to do that.

Would this be interesting to anyone else?  And if so where can I put
it so it easily found?

Btw. I was also looking into how to get xulrunner-bin --install-app to
allow adding the icns file as a parameter so it makes the icon
automatically the default for the installed app, but it is not
obvious.  If anyone has any pointers I would much appreciate it.

If not I will include a blurb about doing this manually in the .app
folder with altering the plist.Info etc. when I figure out where to
store the icns file

Thanks,

Rohan

Hi Rohan,

Put it on the web and send the URL to the mailing list, or email it to
me, and I will act on it.  The installation page of the wiki is not an
appropriate place for this kind of material because we have taken great
pains to make the installation instructions as simple as possible.  Also,
icons are relevant to all operating systems, not just OS X.

To get wiki write access, just make an account (on the login page) and
tell one of the wiki admins (me, jbms, or nicktastic) your username.

Icons go in the chrome branding directory.  I will be adding them to our
repository as soon as I have good ones.  Maybe yours will be the first
version?  I have been experimenting with making icons from the logo, but
have not yet achieved the result I want.

The files are to be found at:
http://www.rohannicholls.com/conkeror/

I took the image from here:

http://www.mozdev.org/pipermail/conkeror/2009-February/001403.html

And then ran it through
http://www.img2icnsapp.com

I just wanted something that was not as horrible as the
default Apple app icon, so these will probably not be
up to snuff.

I did not know there was a logo.  Where is it?

Well if you find the files useful, please help yourself.

Take care,

Rohan

The latest is at:

  http://jjfoerch.com/bitbucket/conker/conker8.svg

Current plan is to add tasteful effects to this basic shape, such as
bevelling, an inner glow, or a reflection, etc, and make a classy logo.

Wow, that is really nice.  Much nicer than I had dug up.

I will have to update the logo on the mac at work.

I have no skills with the gimp et al. so I cannot help out here.
